Hi All,

Resources:
I recently found this http://www.durhamenvironmentwatch.org/Noticeboard/Fact%20Sheet%20References.pdf
which appars to have lots of good research on it about EfW.

Zero Waste
I also thought I should mention that someone told me that bottles produced to contain milk and pop etc are not permitted to be made from recycled plastic. I don't know if this is correct, however, the alternative solution is to obtain milk in a glass bottle. This also has health benefits becuase the plastics get into the milk and then into our bodies and cause hormonla problems - leading to certain cancers and endocrinal disorders. And, you are supporting a local business - the Milkman -
remember him?
You can of course do various searches online, but I use milkandmoore - they have a good website and you can pay by direct debit, one less thing to think about.
It creates zero waste - which is the aim isn't it?

Scotland have a Zero Waste plan, and I thought England should too
Scotland Zero Waste page

I thought it seemed interesting that we could actually recycle so much more, and it could be very easy:
The facilities to recycle all plastics (yoghurt pots, margerine tubs, plastic bags) and tetra packs, and glass all exist - so why is it not collected like the rest of the waste?

There is obviously money to be made in waste, otherwise companies would cease to exist who utilise our waste.
We produce the waste, therefore we have the power to choose how it is processed and how profit is made from it.
I would like to see someone collect and recycle all the items which can be recycled, and a % of the profit should be invested into R&D into creating packaging which creates zero waste, especially of items whioch are currently non-recyclable.

Perhaps we could organise a week where as neighbours we join together to take everything to the tip that can be recycled, but is not currently collected at the roadside.
I am very happy to pay for roadside collection of all recyclable goods rather than have them go to landfill, or worse, be incinerated and buried at Cheltenham and put into the air and the river.

Anna,

Speaking with the people at the Devon waste stand last night I was told that most things are able to be recycled BUT this doesn't happen due
to the cost we can take some plastic to the recycling plant (near the tip) but I am unsure of what. My intention is to save everything and take
it down- I have been told they will be very helpful.

I would be interested to know what other local councils can collect and why this isn't happening here- for example Caradon council collect Glass-
Isn't it about time resources were pulled together.
